The occupants of a hatchback that ended up on its side on The Downs this morning (Sunday) have been taken to hospital. Police, fire and paramedics were called to the incident on Brading Down Road at around 10:45 this morning following reports of a single vehicle collision. At the scene, a silver Chevrolet Matiz has come to rest on its side after losing control, the motor has ended up half of the grass and half on the carriageway. It is unclear as to how exactly the driver lost control. The vehicle has sustained heavy damage to the front end and the roof as a result of the smash. Having been assessed by paramedics at the scene, those involved have been taken to St Mary’s Hospital – it is unclear as to the injuries they have sustained. The road remains open under Police direction and will stay that way until recovery is arranged.
