The driver of a Renault Megane that was seized by Police in Ryde last night (Wednesday) will soon appear before the courts after being reported for a number of offences.
Officers from the newly formed High Harm Team spotted the dodgy motor at Tesco Petrol Filling Station off Brading Road.
It was discovered that not only did the driver not hold valid insurance, but he was also driving otherwise in accordance with his provisional licence.
The Megane was found not to have any MOT or tax, plus 2 of the vehicle’s 4 tyres were determined to be completely illegal.
Police seized the vehicle and the driver will soon appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Plenty of these around the Island all being used for drug movements etc you only have to walk around super market or council car parks !. Seen few on Facebook recently.
I propose it should be crushed, but unsure whether the car should be sold to pay fines or crushed for scap.
Certainly current punishments are not a sufficient deterrent to these unlicensed and uninsured totally reckless drivers.
In every case the car should be scrapped as they are generally older polluting cars anyway.
Any scrap income goes to the courts, and a suspended custodial sentence given in every case, with at least a 10 year suspension period.
Current sentences are a joke and are zero deterrent.
Older polluting cars? well there is nothing more polluting than an overweight electric car, so toxic they will probably never “pay off” their carbon footprint apparently.
Who the hell would actually buy a Renault?
What Car most reliable cars from (best first):
Lexus, Dacia, Suzuki, Hyundai, Toyota, Mini, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Kia, MG
Least reliable cars (worst first):
Fiat, Land Rover, Ford, Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Mercedes, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Jaguar.
So Renault is somewhere in the middle. Generally Renault are let down by their flashy electronics which explains why Dacia, which use Renault engines, are 2nd best.
What Car, is a crap mag… very biased.. I have owned and drive a Ford, for last 12 years, no problems at all… before that an Opel Manta.. 10 years no problems.. Just because a crap magazine states certain facts about a make of car, does not mean it is true…
A friend of mine has a Megane. It starts everyday and has never broken down. It does have French electrics mind. Which means the windows can be bothersome and other minor irritations. If you don’t mind fixing those issues yourself they are real value for money.
Why do idiots like this think it’s acceptable to drive illegally. Pay your way like all RESPONSIBLE motorists.
Hope they crush that piece of crap and the driver gets a big fine.
Hopefully it wasn’t a female driver as they won’t get a driving ban just like the other female driver that crashed in ryde and left the scene with no insurance and no licence yet didn’t get a driving ban.
Likely it was more to do with other matters in that case than gender bias.
Go to Puckpool car park in the evening you will earn your pay and get some bad lads doing what they should not be doing
The condition a vehicle is kept in is no reflection on the manufacturer, its down to owner responsibility along with the legalities of licence, insurance, MOT & tax.
This car came screaming past me at westridge lights towards Ryde just after 5pm yesterday. The car was being driven by an absolute bafoon so no doubt caught the attention of the e boys in blue.
Driving is a privilege that should be revoked from the people who blatantly abuse it.
It was the same car that shot past me on the brading road just after traffic lights , still 30mph zone speed monitor caught him doing over 50 , mindless cretin , no wonder so many accidents lately
Change the rules on buying fuel. Smart camera read’s the reg. no tax and insurance. No fuel.
Would you trust a private company with your insurance details.
Bad enough that parking companies get your address, but I don’t expect it would take long for some smartarse to realise there’s money to be made in selling your insurance details to rivals.
Also the little issue that if someone is happy to drive a car that is illegal anyway, they won’t have any problem with taping fake plates on beforehand.
Very sensible or at least adopt the system where tax is paid at the pumps and reflects road use /mileage. Sure Government losing lots of income since scrapping visual tax disc
The fine they will get will be far cheaper than insuring taxing and moting it
