A 32-year-old woman remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of assaulting a man in Niton last night (Sunday).
Officers were called at 21:22 to reports that a man had been assaulted in Chatfeild Road, near to Priory Walk.
It has been confirmed this morning that a 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
She remains in custody at this time having spent a night in the cells at Newport Police Station.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the parties involved are known to one another.
UPDATE – 32-year-old Natasha Gower-Crane, of Chatfeild Road in Niton, has been charged with assault by beating.
She appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Friday, where she pleaded not guilty.
She will next appear in court for the trial on 27th April.
