UPDATED WITH VIDEO: A person has died following an incident in Sandown tonight (Friday) which has resulted in a residential area being cordoned off.
Police and ambulance crews, including a Rapid Response Paramedic, were called to the junction of Cross Street and North Street in the town at around 23:00 following reports of an incident, the details of which are currently unclear.
At 23:30 an ambulance left the scene without blue lights. A body remains at the scene tonight covered in a blue sheet.
Police units have been searching the local area suggesting a third party is being sought in connection with the death, however Police are yet to confirm any details.
North Street and Cross Street have been cordoned off with an inner cordon surrounding the deceased.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 07:36 – Police have this morning confirmed that the body of a male has been discovered on the pavement.
Police are still on the scene and both roads remain cordoned off whilst investigations take place to establish the full circumstances behind the discovery.
UPDATE @ 07:47 – The body of the deceased male has in the last few moments been taken away from the scene by private ambulance after more than 8 hours.
UPDATE @ 09:30 – Scenes of crime officers have attended the scene this morning and have conducted a thorough forensic examination to help establish what has occurred. A forensic tent was erected.
Both an inner and outer cordon remain in place on the residential street with at least two households told they are unable to leave their property.
No further information has been released as to the identity of the deceased or the circumstances in which the man died.
