Police and paramedics are tending to an injured motorcyclist following a collision in the centre of Newport this morning (Friday).
The incident, which occurred just before 07:30, has happened at Hunnycross crossroads. Hunnyhill is currently blocked as a result.
Island Echo is told that a motorcycle and a car – thought to be a blue Ford Ecosport – have been involved.
Southern Vectis Route 1 buses are diverting via South Streets, Coppins Bridge and Medina Way in both directions until further notice.

For everyone genuinely concerned the motorcyclist is in hospital with a broken collar bone. And is awaiting further tests and scans.
Go get a life mate
Hope the motorcyclist is not badly injured and makes a speedy recovery.
He’s broken his collarbone, staying overnight in hospital with more tests being run. The bike has been written off. The car got away with no injuries and a flat tire from driving over the debris from the incident.
I drove past the scene earlier, I do hope the rider recovers well and I wish the occupants of the Ford well too. Not a pleasant way to start a Friday
