A brand new convenience store could soon be opening on the main road between Newport and Cowes. A licencing application suggests that a Premier shop, complete with off licence, is planned for the former Island Computer Systems premises on Horsebridge Hill. It was back in November that Island Echo reported on the closure of the computer shop after some 43 years in business. Now, Mr Vinojan Subramaniam – who already operates shops on Ferry Road and Adelaide Grove in East Cowes, and Clarendon Street in Newport – is seeking a premises licence from the Isle of Wight Council. Plans show that the building – which has a large car park to the rear – will be transformed into a modern convenience store, complete with a ‘beer cave’. If the go ahead is given, the shop will be open between 06:00 – 23:00 each day. Documentation suggests that Mr Subramaniam could be eyeing up another new shop in Gunville too.
