A young Island girl has shaved all of her hair and donated it to charity, raising almost £2,000 in the process.
As first reported by Island Echo, 10-year-old Summer Kingston from East Cowes had her hair shaved in front of the entire school – Summerfield’s Primary – last week (3rd July).
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions such as Alopecia.
Summer’s parents, Kirsty and Shaun had suggested she cut off a smaller amount of hair and go for a bob-cut but the head-strong 10-year-old went all the way and shaved all her hair off.
Following the event Summer’s mum Kirsty has said:
“It was amazing, she was amazing. She has absolutely smashed it and is so happy.”
Summer is due to start at Cowes Enterprise College in September.
The link to donate to Summer is still open with the total just shy of a massive £2,000. Anyone wishing to donate can do so by clicking here.
