New figures from the Office for National Statistics have revealed that the number of sexual offences reported on the Isle of Wight has increased by almost 30% in just 12 months to hit a new record high.
Between March 2021 and March 2022, a total of 549 offences of a sexual nature were recorded here on the Island – a rise of 121 from the previous 12 months.
Shockingly, it is the highest number of recorded offences in a single year since records began almost 20 years ago.
It’s not just sexual offences on the rise… public order offences have gone up 36%, stalking and harassment 34% and robbery 34%. Overall, crime has increased on the Isle of Wight by 21.8% year-on-year.
No surprise there on the isle of wight.

Because police do no prevention anymore, only do anything if someone dial’s. If police were visible especially around towns etc. You can be in Newport all day and not see any. No way of reporting anything anonymous and long wait get 101 to answer – so what do they expect .
Is it coincedence that every year between 6-9 prisoners released from the Isle of Wight prison stay to live on the Island.
Sadly this is nothing new. At least 30 years ago a Probation Officer friend of mine told me that as sex offenders usually couldn’t go back to their local area they were given a day’s release on the Island before their imminent release into society to integrate them into the modern way of life. Most decided to stay on the Island after their release. That was before Albany became a mainly sex offenders prison so God knows how many released perverts are wandering our streets.
Since mass immigration into this country we here of so many more of the vilest crimes carried out now.
Jails are so full of non British criminals we can no longer give meaningful sentences to our own unless worse than those imported here, which as often being so barbaric is rare
All the families of the prisons population has to be kept as well

The real issue is less police. It’s been 30 years since I have seen a bobby on the beat. I don’t want a police state but I do want to be able to walk my dog to the park without some nutter threatening to kill me (in a very aggressive manor, not just talk) just because I got in his way cleaning up after my dog.

Yes, agreed. Police just react now. For years I have seen, many times, police ignore serious criminal behaviour because no one got hurt. They just look at it and drive past.

It’s well known that our council has a policy of importing those that other council’s don’t want, and that prisoners, on release, are able to choose where they live , ( thanks Tony Blair), and apparently a fair proportion opt to live in the area of the prison they’re released from. Add that to reduced police presence, ridiculous penalty’s served down by the magistrates and judges, and the slope just gets more slippery.

Let your wife or daughter walk through South London after dark alone, or to drink in a bar there and see how they are pestered and intimidated and followed home by the low life that infest anywhere there is easy prey.
