Police have launched an investigation after a man was found with head injuries in Shanklin during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Shortly before 01:30, a male was discovered on Atherley Road, near the junction with Wilton Park Road, with a head injury.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service mobilised a paramedic crew to the scene and Police were alerted to the incident.
Officers are understood to have conducted door-to-door enquiries and a local search of the area, amid fears over how the male came to be injured – with a hit-and-run type incident being considered.
The casualty was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
It has been confirmed by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary that the man’s injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.
Enquiries remain ongoing at this time to establish how the ma;e came to be injured.
