38-year-old Piers Brazier, the man accused of murdering 33-year-old Scott Cooper, will be re-tried later this year, it has been confirmed.
After 3 weeks of hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, the jury in the Scott Cooper murder trial failed to reach a verdict on whether or not Piers Brazier was guilty of the Newport man’s murder.
The trial – the first to be held at the Isle of Wight Crown Court since it was built over 30 years ago – came to an end on 15th July.
Now, it has been confirmed that a re-trial has been listed for Monday 5th December – again at the Isle of Wight Crown Court. It is expected to last up to 4 weeks.
Brazier remains accused of murdering Mr Cooper at an address on George Street, Ryde on the night of 3rd into 4th January this year, but he continues to deny the single charge of murder. Braizer remains in custody at this time.
