UPDATED: Police and ambulance crews are attending a road traffic collision between a motorcycle and a 4×4 on Beaper Shute near Ryde this afternoon (Saturday).
A Range Rover Evoque towing a small trailer has seemingly collided with a orange motorcycle, throwing the rider off.
The incident has occurred at the junction of Harding Shute. Emergency services received a 999 call moments before 13:30.
The road is currently blocked in both directions and therefore motorists should divert via Ashey or St Helens.
UPDATE @ 14:15 – The male motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital by ambulance following initial treatment at the scene by paramedics. His injuries are not life-threatening.
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are now in attendance with 1 appliance from Ryde due to fuel on the carriageway.
Once the vehicles have been recovered the road is expected to be cleared of fluid and debris before being re-opened to all traffic.
Southern Vectis Routes 2 and 3 are diverting via St Helens and Nettlestone until further notice.
UPDATE @ 16:45 – Beaper Shute has now re-opened.
