Island Roads have once again been forced to close the main road between Ryde and Sandown due to flooding. Morton Common has been closed this lunchtime (Thursday) as the Eastern Yar swells following yet more torrential downpours in recent days. The water levels across the carriageway have been deemed as unsafe for motorists with the route now impassable. It was only yesterday that Morton Common re-opened between Yarbridge and Avenue Road, Sandown following a near 2-week closure. It is unknown when the road will re-open, with all motorists having to divert via Yaverland until further notice.
