Police are continuing their search for a man in his 70s who hasn’t been seen since Thursday.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bournemouth is back in the skies above the West Wight this lunchtime (Saturday) in the hope of locating the unnamed individual, who is presumed to have come to harm.
As previously reported by Island Echo, search and rescue teams joined Police at Freshwater Bay on Thursday night when a Skoda Fabia belonging to the male was located in a public car park.
At the height of the search 2 helicopters, 2 lifeboats, 2 Coastguard Rescue Teams, WightSAR and numerous Police officers were scouring the West Wight.
The search has now been scaled back and HM Coastguard are said to not be involved in today’s search.
Hope he is found soon safe and well fingers crossed
Hi walked my dog a couple of days ago and there was an elderly man down on the beach wearing g blue Jean’s and maybe a cardigan he was all by himself could it have been the missing man ?
Have you informed the police then.
There was aman on the beach at freshwater just below us wearing blue Jean’s and a cardigan he was all by himself could it have been him you have just jogged my memory I’m sure there was a fire on the beach
