A young child who had gone missing on the beach at Sandown has been successfully located following a multi-agency search for the youngster.
Shortly before 16:00 authorities were alerted that a child – thought to be a 5-year-old girl – had gone missing near to Dinosaur Isle.
HM Coastguard mobilised a coastguard rescue team and a Senior Coastal Operations Officer to the scene, as well as requesting the launch of Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
The lifeboat was seen scouring the shore between Sandown and Yaverland.
Police also responded to the scene.
It is understood that the child was located at the Northern end of Yaverland beach, near Redcliff.
Keep your eyes on your child always but more so at the seaside. DONT look at your phone …LOOK AT your child.
Bad parenting a old fart could off took the poor kid
First thing that came to my mind was how on Earth did a 5 yo child end up on her own, where were the adults and parents, how could they not know or notice the young child wander off, if this had happened somewhere else the outcome could have been completely, tragically different and doesn’t bare worth thinking about.
What do you mean “somewhere else”, there are several cases of paedos on the Island!!
Glad the little girl is ok! Why was she allowed to wonder off on her own, she is 5 years old, the parents should not have taken their eyes off of her??
As people are better off financially by having children then more are sadly born to the wrong sort of parents, and often a parent.
So many modern women are not proper Mothers but merely women who have had a child.
A HUGE difference IF you are lucky enough to have had the former.
End tax credits and then more only truly wanted children would be born, not just meal and free housing‘tickets’
So glad the little girl didnt meet the local child molesters. Her poor mother must be vey relieved too.
Maybe mum was having some much needed time out or had to go to use the loo, or get ice cream confidant in the knowledge dad was doing his duty and keeping an eye out. More often than not, this is where it falls over.. Truth is, we don’t know.
