UPDATED: Police, fire and ambulance crews are attending a road traffic collision on Middle Road near Freshwater this afternoon (Monday).
The incident, which is thought to involve 3 vehicles, has taken place near the junction with Wilmingham Lane.
Fire appliances from Freshwater and Newport are on scene amid fears a number of people are trapped. Emergency services were alerted at around 12:30.
The road is closed in both directions.
UPDATE @ 14:02 – Fire crews have worked to extricate 3 people from their vehicles. All 3 casualties are now in the care of paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
No one is thought to have suffered any serious or life-threatening injuries.
Recovery of the vehicles has been arranged.
