UPDATED: Passengers on board Wightlink’s brand new car ferry, Victoria of Wight, are reporting mid-Solent troubles for the vessel this afternoon (Monday).

The 15:30 sailing from Portsmouth Harbour to Fishbourne appears to have developed a fault just outside of Portsmouth Harbour, around 10 minutes into the 45 minute journey.

It appears at 15:52 the vessel dropped from 7kts to just 1.7kts and remained stationary for 15 minutes before motoring off again at 16:10.

Victoria of Wight should now be docking at Fishbourne, as per the timetable, but instead is only around half way through her journey.

UPDATE @ 16:36 – Wightlink have confirmed that a temporary fault is to blame for the delay to the 15:30 sailing.

The 16:30 sailing from Fishbourne has been cancelled as a result of the technical hitch.

UPDATE @ 18:23 – Wightlink’s 15:30 car ferry sailing from Portsmouth was delayed by 15 minutes following a minor technical fault on board Victoria of Wight during the journey to Fishbourne.

The Master informed customers and the ship continued to the Island at reduced speed.

Victoria of Wight is now on her way back to Portsmouth. She will not be in service tomorrow because of scheduled crew training.
