A 36-year-old man has been remanded in custody following an incident in Ryde, during which it is alleged he thrust a knife towards members of the public in the town centre.
It was on Wednesday evening (19th February), at around 18:50, that Police were called to reports of a man armed with a knife in the vicinity of Anglesea Street.
It had been reported that 2 members of the public had witnessed a knife being thrust in their direction near the Co-Op. They were not struck by the knife and did not receive any injuries.
Officers soon arrested a suspect nearby and he was taken into custody for questioning.
Now, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that 36-year-old Rory Corderey-Jones, of Station Street in Ryde, has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a knife in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (22nd February), where he was further remanded in custody to appear at the Crown Court on 28th February.
Should get 10 years for carrying a knife, and another 10 for threatening with it and another 10 for using it to stab someone with it. Every day there is new scum on our streets. He will be free again by tonight thanks to the do gooders
