A man in his 60s remains in hospital in Southampton after being hit by a lorry in Cowes yesterday afternoon (Thursday), which has left him with serious injuries.
As first reported by Island Echo, paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service rushed to Somerton Industrial Estate just before 14:00 when a pedestrian was hit by a lorry operated by Acclaim Logistics.
The collision occurred just outside the firm’s depot off Saunders Drive.
The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene, landing on the grass outside nearby Bookers Wholesale. The flying medics later airlifted the casualty directly to Southampton General Hospital.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary cordoned off the scene of the incident last night as investigations got underway.
The force has since confirmed that a man in his 60s sustained serious injuries in the collision and is still receiving treatment in hospital at this time.
Acclaim Logistics has not provided a comment on the incident.
