UPDATED: A 50-year-old man from Ryde is to appear in court after threatening a person with an offensive weapon in Cowes, which prompted a large Police response to the area last night (Wednesday).
6 Police units rushed to Queens Road at shortly after 18:15 following reports of 2 men being involved in an altercation.
Simon Eatwell from Thornton Manor Drive, Ryde has been charged with threatening a person with an offensive weapon, assault by beating and affray.
Island Echo understands the weapon used was a machete or large bladed object.
Eatwell will appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 30th December 2016.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that the offensive weapon used was a Machete and a large kitchen knife.
