Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council has purchased 12 football goals to be enjoyed free of charge by locals throughout the Summer holidays. There will be a set of goals at Downside Recreation Ground, 2 at Victoria Recreation Ground, 2 at Nine Acres and 1 at Clatterford Recreation Ground. Councillor Martin Oliver, Chair of the Community Council, has said:
“It’s great to be able to offer a facility for local children to use that is free, set in some beautiful and quiet areas of Newport. “The Victoria Recreation Ground in particular is a hidden gem that NCCC are proud to be able to offer to local residents & visitors to encourage outdoor activities.”
Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council asks that the goals be treated with respect as it may not be possible to replace them if they are broken or vandalised.
