A lifelong passion for baking that began in her grandmother’s kitchen has blossomed into a full-time business for Kerry Draper – and now, a brand new shop in Newport.
Kerry first launched her business nearly 5 years ago when friends and family encouraged her to turn her hobby into something more. What started as a way to make a little extra pocket money soon grew into a full-time job, supplying handmade cakes and treats to businesses across the Isle of Wight.
Opening a dedicated shop was the next natural step. When the Town Lane premises became available, Kerry knew it was the perfect fit.
After a full renovation, the shop officially opened its doors in May.
Kerry Draper says:
“I have had a passion for baking since I was around 6, making cakes with my Nan in her kitchen became the highlight of my week.
“This hobby turned into a business nearly 5 years ago when friends and family pushed me to give it a go. Something I thought would be a little pocket money soon turned into a full-time job, even supplying businesses across the island.
“I have the most amazing, loyal customers and now want to build on the shop’s popularity. I can’t wait to see lots of new faces in the shop… oh and we are dog friendly!”
The shop is open every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00-15:00 and has already attracted a loyal following. Kerry’s handmade cakes and sweet treats are freshly prepared and proudly displayed each week.
Kerry has also recently been awarded a 5-star hygiene rating.

Congratulations, one day I will catch the shop open.
Best of luck, who doesn’t love a cake.
