A medical emergency on board a yacht located 2 miles West of Cowes led to the launching of Cowes RNLI lifeboat this afternoon (Wednesday).
Solent Coastguard was alerted to a male being taken ill on board a 29ft yacht, which was being sailed by 2 men.
At the request of the Coastguard, Cowes’ B-Class Inshore Lifeboat launched at 12:37.
2 volunteer crew members were soon transferred aboard the yacht – 1 of them being a doctor.
Having assessed the situation, it was decided that the lifeboat would escort the yacht to Trinity Landing where the casualty was transferred to an awaiting ambulance for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital.
The lifeboat returned to station just over an hour after launching at 13:40.
