This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

Monday 22nd May – Friday 26th May 2023
• Paul Michael Butler, 40, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of assault by beating, criminal damage, using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and 2x assault of an emergency worker. He was sentenced to 7 weeks in prison. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.
• Jayden Dewhurst, 18, of Hunnyhill, Newport pleaded guilty to assault by beating of an emergency worker. He was fined £240 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £96 surcharge.
• Robert Bernal-Soria, 41, of Coriander Crescent, Guildford pleaded guilty to theft from a meter / automatic machine and criminal damage. He was made subject to an 18-month community order with 25 rehabilitation days, 20 Thinking Skills days and 180 hours of unpaid work attached. He was ordered to pay £85 costs with a £114 surcharge.
• Olivia Story, 30, of Sun Hill, Calbourne pleaded guilty to drink driving. She was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £461 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £184 surcharge.
