The quick thinking actions of off-duty firefighters has prevented a kitchen fire from spreading at a popular eatery in Cowes tonight (Friday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Spice Central on the High Street at just before 21:00, prompting the response of 3 fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and Incident Command Unit.
However, it was the actions of Cowes firefighters enjoying a night out that extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of wholetime colleagues from Newport.
The road was blocked for a short time but fire crews were quickly stood down, leaving the scene by 21:30.
