JOBSEEKERS CLAIMANTS FALL AS SUMMER SEASON GEARS UP

jobcentresignA total of 135 more Islanders were in work last month compared to April, as the Island’s summer season gears up.

The Office for National Statistics have today released figures which show the number of Island residents claiming the unemployment benefit Jobseekers Allowance fell to 1,379 in May from 1,517 JSA claimants in April of this year., and a decrease of 653 from May 2014 (2,032).

Year-on-year, there has been a fall of 650 claimants from 2,032 in May 2014.
