Islander Jane Ridley has embarked on a mammoth challenge of cycling the length of Britain from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of The Wight Brainy Bunch. Joining Jane – albeit not on 2 wheels – is her good friend Viv, who will drive a support vehicle on this epic adventure, which will push Jane to the limits of her endurance. Covering over 80 miles a day, Jane hopes to complete the 1000-mile route in approximately 12 days. She began on Tuesday (6th August). Having a friend who is affected by a brain tumour was Jane’s inspiration for taking on the challenge, as she exaplins:
“Brain tumours rob families of peace, finance and time. Having a friend who is affected by this disease, I wanted to do what I can to help, and what I can do is cycle! “The Wight Brainy Bunch are a fabulous local charity who help patients and their families on the Isle of Wight who are suffering from the unimaginable hardship which comes with the life changing diagnosis of a brain tumour – so dig down the back of the sofa and check your old handbags for any spare change you can find to donate to this incredible cause”.
Jane will regularly check in with updates, which will be shared on the charity’s social media pages, and she asks for people to follow her progress and keep her motivated by reading her story and donating on her fundraising page.
