A monthly community donation initiative by 34-year-old Jamie Hindson has continued into September, with his latest £100 gift going to The Phoenix Project IW in Ryde.
Jamie, who has pledged to support a different Isle of Wight organisation every month throughout 2025, visited the Salters Road-based centre to meet staff and learn more about their work supporting adults with complex needs and disabilities.
During his visit, Jamie was welcomed by CEO Sam, who explained how the centre operates Monday to Friday, supporting adults aged 18 and above through a wide range of activities. These include arts and crafts, ICT, sensory rooms, horticulture, and a new fully equipped kitchen designed to meet mobility needs.
Jamie said he was particularly impressed by the sensory room and the adapted kitchen, which allows people of all abilities to take part in cooking sessions.
Jamie said.
“The Phoenix Centre also supports young adults into the community too. It really does bring such joy where there are adaptations so those who have mobility needs can also join in too.”
Reflecting on his year-long donation journey, Jamie added:
“I can’t believe how quickly the year has gone. It’s been an absolute pleasure doing this journey, meeting new people and finding out about the services our community offers to those that need support. I would like to wish The Phoenix Project every success.”
Jamie has a long history of fundraising and supporting local causes, from completing a solo half marathon in 2021 to raise £1,000 for mental health support, to donating to the NHS children’s ward at Christmas.
His 2025 monthly donations so far include:
- January – Isle of Wight Hospice, Newport
- February – Better Days Café, Ventnor
- March – Care In The Garden, Wootton
- April – Daisy Chains, Island-based
- May – The Holt, Newport
- June – The Way Forward, Newport
- July – Haylands Farm, Ryde
- August – Men Only IW, Ryde

Jamie has confirmed his community donations will continue each month until December 2025, with details of his October gift to be revealed in the coming weeks.
