A teaching assistant from the Isle of Wight handed over a cash donation to the Children’s Ward at St Mary’s Hospital in the days before Christmas.
34-year-old Jamie Hindson, who works at St George’s School, put £10 aside each month to lead to a donation of £120 cash on 17th December.
Jamie says:
“Spending Christmas in hospital must be very upsetting for families. I decided that I wanted to give something back to the community on the island and help children who may/will be spending it at hospital and have at least enjoy a bit of Christmas.”
Jamie is no stranger to raising money – he undertook his own solo half marathon in 2021 where he raised £1,000 for mental health. He has also abseiled down the tallest waterfall in the UK in 2016, a sleep rough challenge in 2013 and a sponsored silence in 2009.
Well done to Jamie, the world needs more Jamie’s.
