HRD Auction Rooms in Brading will continue as normal, as an independent and privately owned Island business, following the news that Hose Rhodes Dickson estate agency is being sold.
As exclusively reported by Island Echo last week, Hose Rhodes Dickson – or HRD as it is more commonly known now – is being taken over by national firm Leaders Romans Group.
Despite sharing a name, it has been confirmed that the auction house off Quay Lane in Brading will not be affected in any way by the buyout of Hose Rhodes Dickson estate agency.
Managing director Warren Riches has told Island Echo:
“When we created the new auction rooms several years ago now, it was done as a stand-alone business which gave us the freedom and ability to make decisions and run it the way we wanted.
“It will be business as usual for us here – following the recent success stories of the Chinese Box selling for £152,000 and the Chinese bowls selling for £130,000.
“Our next sale is on 23rd August”.
Bad move, they couldn’t value anything even if it had a price ticket on it. I went there with a painting and was told it was worth £20. Went to an antique dealer and was offered £2000 cash there and then. They seriously need to get their act together as with a previous report of under valuation
