The Isle of Wight County Record Office will reopen next week after closing for essential maintenance works.
The office will reopen strictly by appointment only for its first 2 days, starting on Monday 22nd December, 09:30-12:30 and 13:30-16:30.
It will be closed on Tuesday as normal before opening again 09:30-12:30 and 13:30-16:00 on Wednesday 24th December.
Again, visits on these 2 days will be strictly by appointment.
The Record Office will then reopen as normal on Friday 2nd January 2026.
The Record Office welcomes enquiries during this time and encourages people to get in touch with any queries, which the team will endeavour to assist where possible.
Catalogues to many of the collections remain available through the Discovery Catalogue of The National Archive https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk. The FindMyPast website and the British Newspaper Archive are available to view through local libraries.
An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson has said:
