The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is holding an open day next Tuesday (12th March) for armed forces reservists and anyone who is interested in joining the cadet force adult volunteers. On the day, representatives from Army, Navy and RAF reservists will be on hand to talk about what it’s like to work as a reservist and the benefits they can bring to employers. Steve Parker, Medical Director and the Trust’s Veterans’ Clinical Champion, has said:
“As a veteran aware accredited organisation, we are delighted to be hosting this event where we will be joined by a range of representatives from across the armed forces. It is a great opportunity for veterans, members of the public and staff to come along and find out first hand all about the life of reservists and cadets.”
Representatives from the Island’s Army, Sea and RAF cadets will also be at the event to share more about how people can join them. There will also be a helicopter simulator for those people who are brave enough to give it a try! The event is taking place on Tuesday 12 March 2024, from 10:00 to 14:00 in the conference room at St Mary’s Hospital, in the main hospital building near the restaurant. If you are interested in attending the event or want to find out more, email [email protected].

No-one wants to go to war and as a father, I don’t want any of my kids being killed abroad and in a war that’s not ours!! 🙁
It is just as well that others do not feel the same way and realise that our country needs effective armed forces to protect us from attack by psychopaths like Hitler and Putin. The world is becoming more unstable and the risk of war is getting higher. I am very grateful to all the brave people who work in our armed forces and who will protect us when the need arises.
Why have recruitment for armed forces at st Mary’s hospital, there’s not enough parking for people with hospital appointments , or those who are visiting patients. I had appointment for the 12th now its been cancelled for a later date !
