Wednesday evening saw 80 people turn out for West Wight Road Runners’ ‘Let’s All Run Together’ event. Runners from across the Isle of Wight were invited to join the West Wight club with a choice of a 5.5-mile run, or a shorter 3-mile route. Clubs represented on the night included Wootton Bridge Runners, Ryde Harriers, Vectis Acadamy, Wight Tri, IW Road Runners, Dark Star and West Wight Road Runners. The majority of runners headed up to the Tennyson Monument and then through Afton Marsh. At the end, everyone was welcomed to enjoy refreshments including lots of homemade cakes. Gemma Swain, West Wight Road Runners Captain, says:
“There’s such a big running community here on the Island and it’s really great to all get together for a fun run like this and then socialise afterwards. Our special thanks go to the West Wight Sports Centre for allowing us to host the event there”.
