Isle of Wight man Jack Hazlewood has raised nearly £2,000 for Mountbatten by running 7 marathons in 7 days, ending with the Isle of Wight Marathon on Sunday.
In total, he has run 183 miles in a week – equivalent to the distance by road from Portsmouth to Nottingham.
Jack completed Sunday’s Marathon in the respectable time of 4 hours and 11 minutes.
Jack said before taking on the marathons:
“I am challenging myself to running 7 marathons in 7 days to raise as much money and awareness as I can for the IOW Mountbatten Hospice.
“You all know my relationship with the organisation that looked after my nan during her short, hard battle with this horrible illness before her sad passing, back in 2020.
“They’ve helped so many families here on the island for many years and I want to give something back again.”

After completing the final Isle of Wight Marathon, Jack commented:
“I am truly grateful to everyone who has donated, run with me, cheered me on, sent lovely messages etc. The mission was to raise as much money and awareness for a Incredible charity very close to my heart: Mountbatten. We certainly did that. Thank you.
“But I also wanted to and will continue to raise awareness for people struggling with mental health and addiction. I want people to know that it’s OK not to be OK. And that things do get better. 1 day at a time. You are not alone.
“Do not suffer in silence or be afraid to reach out for help if you need it. You are not weak, it takes a lot of courage to accept the struggle and reach out. I am right here with you.”
