Flooding across the railway tracks at Ryde has forced the cancellation of Island Line trains this morning (Monday).
Heavy rain overnight has flooded low-lying land between St Johns and Smallbrook, meaning trains are unable to operate between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin.
The flooding is so bad that trains are unable to leave the depot.
At this time South Western Railway are expecting disruption to services until the end of the day.
Tickets are being accepted, at no extra cost, on Southern Vectis Route 2 and Route 3 buses.

Sorry, i have said it before what is the point of this service?
This island train has always made a loss, it will never make any money…God knows how Scandinavian county’s manage to run a service without any of the problems that we seem to have..
Tree down one day, floods the next. The trains are always stopping, mind you it does make their strike the other week seem a little bit futile doesn’t it as we are rather getting used to the trains not running!
…as predicted. Good work for your input putting the blame of island wide flooding down to island line. Fantastic work.
Tick tick tick… waiting for the warriors to start tapping away blaming island line staff for the islands torrential rain over the last few days. I’m excited for the enviable “should tarmac it” line.
2 trains have passed through Brading Station in the last hour
South Western Rail says that the service is now running normally.
