A fallen tree has forced the suspension of Island Line trains this morning (Saturday).
Adverse weather conditions have led to the tree falling across the tracks and blocking the railway between Ryde Esplanade and Shanklin.
As a result, train services running to and from these stations have been suspended.
Specialist teams are working to clear the tree from the track with disruption expected to last until 15:00 this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 12:57 – Island Line services have now resumed.

Wow! I didn’t know the railway was still there. I thought it was a giant ornament.
A sudden influx of staff?
Island Line can’t control the weather, trees being blown over by the wind aren’t something that even the train driver’s can anticipate when they are driving. I know someone who was on the train when it hit the tree, it was quite a big impact. Stupid remarks about the local train service not working properly doesn’t help anyone.
I will give them that one as a reasonable excuse !!!!
Always some excuse with this lot.
Why did the driver just not get out of his warm cabin,
and move it out of the way ?
I am sure the driver involved had a chain saw in his kit bag and didn’t mind stepping on the electrified third rail while cutting up the tree.
Safety reasons Electrified Line would you ?
Yes i wood, just messing guys, you all do a great job, seriously.
But may i enquire, why have all/most of the old staff left ?
