Convicted child sex offender David Stingemore was seen in his prison cell just minutes before he was discovered dead, an inquest opening has heard.
The inquest into the death of the 71-year-old, who died at the Parkhurst Road premises, was opened at the Isle of Wight Coroner’s Court at Seaclose last week (Friday 20th March).
Stingemore, originally from Wales, had been serving an 18-year prison term for child sex offences in the 1980s when his sentence was extended by 6 years in 2023 for further shocking abuse against girls in Yorkshire.
The court heard how Stingemore was last seen shortly after 18:30 on the 6th March, however within 20 minutes, staff returned to his cell to find he had died.
Currently, the death of the convicted paedophile has been ruled as ‘unascertained’ pending further laboratory investigations’.
The inquest into the death of David Robert Stingemore has been adjourned until 21st September.

Why exactly are we wasting thousands on a coroners inquest, this person was a social outcast, a paedophile. just weigh him down and dump him off the needles.
Can’t do that it will pollute the water,a better way would be lay him on top of a load of TNT,and let one of the kids he abused, press the button that sets the TNT off
One less sick individual that does not deserve to live! Remember the children not this sicko!
I could read these story lines everyday
There is no need for a inquest,a kiddie fiddler has died, Good riddance , hope many more will follow.
Oh, shame
