INJURED CASUALTY ASSISTED BY COASTGUARD TEAMS AT BROOK CHINE

A multi-agency rescue response has resulted in the safe conveyance of a 63-year-old woman to hospital from Brook Chine this afternoon (Wednesday).

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and a Co-Responder from Freshwater were alerted to the woman’s plight shortly after 14:30. Due to the position of the casualty the assistance of HM Coastguard was soon requested.

Thanks to the efforts of The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, as well as the paramedics and Co-Responder, the casualty was safely stretchered into an awaiting ambulance and taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

She is said to have sustained head and back injuries after a fall.
