A long-serving member of Godshill Parish Council has resigned with immediate effect after describing some of her fellow councillors as ‘impossible to work with’.
Alison Child, who had been a member of Godshill Parish Council for 15 years, tendered her resignation with immediate effect at a meeting on Monday evening (7th July).
In her resignation statement, Alison cited issues working with some of her fellow councillors who were ‘impossible to work with’. The statement also made reference to councillors being ‘negative’ about the achievements of the parish council over the years.
Thanks were given to the residents of Godshill and all of the councillors who worked alongside her over the years.
Alison was re-elected to Godshill Parish Council back in May, where she secured more votes than any of her fellow elected councillors (215).
A vacancy notice has since appeared on the Godshill Parish Council website.

Surely not in 2025 there are still bullies in the work place!
No things need to be done properly in 2025 she didn’t like it
no doubt she has had to put up with simple minded indviduals that think they know better, however, will make a complete mess of everything, now that she has gone
Umm no lots of dodgyness going on before the new council was elected. She’s done a runner before she’s outed but we won’t talk about that.
Not quite true………It’s self inflicted arrogance that bought her down
We are told nothing about what was behind the difficult relationship that clearly existed here. In such circumstances I would always advise people that it is better to “say nothing and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt”.
I was a Councillor for 20 years a few years as chairman it can very petty at times some will vote against your proposals just because they don’t like you nothing to do with the merit of the proposal
I could well believe it.
