Independent training provider HTP Apprenticeship College has once again marked the achievement of learners with a Graduation ceremony, recognising the progress of more than 50 Higher Apprentices.
The award presentations took place at Newport Minster on November 28th, where the recently refurbished church provided an impressive setting for this proud occasion.
Apprentices from businesses across the south gathered with family, friends and their employers to receive awards from HTP’s chief executive and founder Rachael Randall.
The ceremony began with a keynote speech from Mrs Susie Sheldon JP, HM Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight:
“Many congratulations to you all today and we celebrate your success together, but it doesn’t stop here. This is the end of your Apprenticeship but the beginning of a new stage in your career. You are about to set off on the next phase of your life, having worked hard to get the qualification and I hope you will continue to grab all opportunities that come your way. Apprenticeships are a partnership too, between our learners, HTP and our employers.”
Represented at the ceremony were Apprentices from businesses across a wide range of sizes and sectors, from both sides of the Solent. Employers included Age UK Isle of Wight, Aspire Ryde, Four Point Digital Ltd, Island Healthcare, Isle of Wight Council, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, Love Coffee, Niton Pre-School, Portsmouth City Council, Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth, Ryde Town Council, Southampton University Hospital, Southern Housing, The Salvation Army Fellowship House, Tidal Family Support, Vectis Ventures and Vestas Blades UK.
The ceremony took place just a short distance from HTP’s headquarters at The Old Grammar School Campus on St James Street in Newport. The organisation will celebrate its quarter century in 2025.
Rachael Randall took the opportunity to reflect on HTP’s ethos and spirit, saying:
“HTP is proud to be an independent education provider offering such a wide range of standards and working in partnership with so many employers to train and upskill their staff. Today really showcases the value of Apprenticeships, where team members learn in the workplace, on the job and at any age.
“Since 2000, when we opened our doors for the very first time, I have always passionately believed that we can all achieve whatever we put our minds to – so long as we have a strong support network around us. So, today, as we celebrate the hard work, determination and focus of our learners, I also want to thank the parents, carers, families, friends, and employers who have supported them – in whatever way, to achieve their goals. Please join me in wishing our graduates every success for the future – wherever it may take them.”
With the ceremony complete, HTP’s graduates made the most of a bright sunny day and gathered outside the Minster in St Thomas’ Square for the traditional hat-throwing group photo. Congratulations to all of our learners and thanks to everyone who took part in this brilliant day.
