UPDATED: Hovertravel have been forced to suspend their cross-Solent service this evening (Wednesday) due to yet another technical issue with their sole operational craft.
The 17:45 crossing from Ryde was loaded with passengers as normal, but they were soon all forced to disembark again due to the technical failure.
As Island Flyer is the only hovercraft currently available on the Ryde to Southsea route the service has been suspended.
Passengers are now being directed to Wightlink’s Fastcat service at Ryde Pier.
Hovertravel have not indicated when their next crossing is likely to be or when an update will be provided.
Solent Flyer has been withdrawn from service for a total period of 7 weeks, with an update on the situation expected tomorrow (Thursday).
UPDATE @ 19:08 – Hovertravel have now resumed a revised timetable service, albeit with 15 minute delays.
