UPDATED: Firefighters are tackling a house fire in the village of Shorwell this evening (Sunday).
The property is well alight and smoke can be seen from some distance.
Several appliances from Newport, Cowes and Freshwater are on scene and crews are working to bring the fire under control.
No one is thought to have been injured at this stage.
Sandy Lane/Kingston Road is currently closed.
UPDATE @ 19:00 – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have surrounded the blaze and are continuing to work to bring it under control as the light fades.
The cause of the fire, which broke out at just before 17:00, remains unclear. It has been confirmed that the first floor and roof have been gutted.
UPDATE @ 20:40 – An Aerial Ladder Platform is now on scene alongside the Incident Command Unit.
The firefighting operation continues as snow falls across the Island.
UPDATE MONDAY – The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have this morning returned to the scene at Sandy Lane to carry out further investigations into the cause of the fire.
1 appliance from Newport and the Aerial Ladder Platform are inspecting the gutted property.
