Wightlink is advising of hour-long delays for those travelling on its Yarmouth-Lymington service this afternoon (Friday).
The 60-minute delay is due to an earlier medical emergency. It’s thought a woman fell down a set of stairs onboard, prompting an ambulance to be called.
Timetabled ferries to and from the Isle of Wight are now showing as being pushed back an hour for the rest of the afternoon.
Wightlink apologises for any changes to your travel plans.
UPDATE @ 13:43 – Wightlink now says that delays of up to 2 hours can be expected.

How rude! A lady has fallen down the stairs onboard and cut her head open, ambulance took an hour to arrive at scene.
oh dear how horrible for the poor Lady. Hope she recovers well.
Stairs are a bit steep on these ships for the codgerati…hope only soft tissue and not anything more serious…ban alcohol as well as likely had some of that in their system.
Yet again the ‘voice of the local idiot’ has left a stupid idiotic remark. I hope the passenger recovers well from her injuries.
One hour will also include getting the ambulance crew onto the ferry assessing the patient, administering any treatment and moving onto the ambulance.
May you live long and prosper, John Smith. Not.
whats that to do with the poor Lady ????
Because John Smith made an inappropriate comment which was (quite properly by IE) deleted and Helen said what a lot of us feel about JS
Why the delay? She fell down stairs. OK. Get her off, put her to one side . Wait for ambulance. Everyone else go about your business…
So now your a qualified emergency worker, do you know what injuries she had, no of course not so keep your ridiculous comments to yourself.
Possibly because she may have had a spinal injury and needed to be assessed???!
We were on that ferry yesterday and the captain and crew did everything right . Some of the comments I have just read are shocking . We hope the lady recovers well.
