The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with a minor car fire in Sandown High Street this afternoon (Friday).
1 appliance is currently on scene near to the junction with Wilkes Road having been mobilised at around 14:20.
Firefighters have lifted the bonnet of car – believed to be a Pegueot 307 SE – where a small amount of smoke has emitted. It’s understood to be an electrical fire.
The road is currently blocked with motorists having to divert locally. The temporary blockage is likely to have a knock-on effect to some Southern Vectis services.
UPDATE @ 15:33 – The road is now passable to all vehicles.
The Peugeot is awaiting recovery.
