Households across the Isle of Wight are being reminded that help is available for Islanders to save money on rising energy bills.
With energy prices set to spike in January, residents are being urged to get their heating systems checked for free through EnergyWise.
Radiators, boilers, loft insulation and other measures, such as solar panels, can be explored by booking a home visit.
Lisa Beaney, Director of Green Isle of Wight CIC, which runs EnergyWise, says:
“Ultimately, the whole purpose of this project is to help people make their homes warmer and cheaper to heat.
“We can offer a full check of everything in your home to ensure it’s as efficient as possible, and help make improvements where required.
“Even if we can just suggest some small changes – it could be as simple as changing your light bulbs – then all these little things add up into something really noticeable around the price of your bills.”
A home visit involves testing radiators with thermal imaging cameras to check if they are working efficiently, with help and advice available to adjust them if necessary.
Simple changes alone can save residents around 10% on heating bills.
EnergyWise can also signpost people to potential grants to upgrade heating systems or improve insulation in properties, with up to £30,000 worth of improvements available from 1st April with the new Warmer Homes scheme.
The project is open to anyone who owns their own property or who is in private rented accommodation.

This would be the Beaney and her little friend Norman who jumped ship from Footprint Trust (who really were delivering valuable energy help) and set up in competition. Caveat emptor.
Wouldn’t it be nice if IW Council helped island
Households by not increasing Council tax charges next
year.
I would rather see the island charge households
Permit parking charges, a much fairer system

The uneducated Deformed Reform party doesn’t

Only the educated Conservatives will have the brains
