Nearly 60% of recent patient feedback on the Isle of Wight has been negative, with GP access, dentistry and mental health waits among top concerns.
A new report by Healthwatch Isle of Wight has revealed that 59% of feedback received between 13th March and 12th April 2026 was negative.
Just 39% of responses were positive, with a further 2% described as mixed or neutral.
The intelligence report highlights ongoing difficulties in contacting GP practices – particularly by telephone – as one of the most consistent issues raised by residents.
Concerns have also been raised about NHS dental practices regularly cancelling appointments, while long waits for mental health services continue to frustrate patients.
Examples of feedback included patients waiting years for treatment, last-minute appointment cancellations and limited access to face-to-face GP appointments.
One patient said:
“I’ve now been waiting 2 years for talking therapy for my mental health.”
Another reported:
“For well over a year and more, it’s been very difficult to get face-face appointments at the surgery.”
Dental access also remains problematic, with one parent stating:
“My daughter’s appointment has been cancelled twice.”
Despite the concerns, some positive experiences were also shared, including praise for pharmacy services and care homes.
Healthwatch says the findings will be shared with local providers and commissioners to help improve services and address areas of concern.

Not really a surprise is it. Doctors are taking the piss, have been since covid. They get paid by taxpayers money to look after patients, not fob them off with useless telephone consultations that are usually late at best and at worst don’t happen. Rude reception staff, who think they are Doctors, and are obviously told to put off people coming in to see a doctor face to face. The whole system is trashed, oh that is unless you arrive on a not so small boat, free doctor, dentist, NHS treatment, phone, government bank card. Time for a big big change.
The NHS went from bad to worse after the scamdemic
Too many of the numpties are still shirking from home.
Get everyone back into the workplace and get things back
to pre scamdemic times.
How many hours do you work a week? As a wild guess I would say zero.
