Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is launching its Let’s Talk initiative today (Wednesday). The survey is intended to be a new approach to local policing and tackle the things that matter most to the community. The new Let’s Talk approach will help the Police achieve this through a community survey, which is built onto their existing Hampshire Alert community messaging system. The survey will gather information to find out what concerns residents the most when it comes to where they live. Members of the Police community messaging systems, Hampshire Alert and Isle of Wight Alert, will then receive updates from their neighbourhood policing teams about the action taken based on the feedback received. The launch across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight follows a month-long pilot of the initiative which recently took place in Havant and Waterlooville. Head of Local Policing, Acting Assistant Chief Constable Clare Jenkins, has said:
“Let’s Talk will help us to better understand the needs of our local communities and will enable the public to share any concerns with our officers. “We want to know what it’s like to live in your area – what the issues you face are and how can we work with others to make communities safer and stronger. “Our neighbourhood officers are fully aware of the impact local problems can cause. They are committed to listening to the concerns of our communities and to addressing the issues that will make a difference in their daily lives. “If you see one of our officers or PCSOs knocking at your door, please spare a few minutes to talk to them. Otherwise known as the grass up your neighbours campaign. One of my neighbours is always out in the garden smoking weed in the evenings. It stinks and spoils my enjoyment of the garden. Should I grass him up?

Dear island police how about some boots on the streets? Anti social behaviour, speeding in towns, parking in yellow lines, parking on footways, get local police officers back in towns and villages at the right times to see value for our taxpayers money.
