Gritters are set to be deployed both tonight and again tomorrow morning (Sunday) due to the anticipated freezing temperatures and icy conditions.
Island Roads say that the local road network and bridge decks at Stag Lane and Foxes Road, Newport will be treated with a heavy salt run at 17:00 this evening, then with a top up at 06:00 tomorrow morning.
Motorists should proceed with care, even on treated roads.
