Gritters will be out and about across the Island’s road network for the first time this season from 04:00 tomorrow morning (Monday).
Island Roads are anticipating low temperatures overnight, resulting in the fleet undertaking a precautionary treatment of all P1 and P2 routes.
Footbridges at Stag Lane and Foxes Road, Newport will also be gritted.
Local forecasters IW Met Service say that away from windward coasts a widespread ground frost will develop and perhaps even a rather dry air frost in some places, especially in central, southern and western parts of the island. This may lead to a few icy patches in rural areas.
Temperatures will drop to 1c to 3c widely but as low as -1c in a few sheltered rural spots in central, southern and western parts – closer to 5c on windward coasts.
