With the mercury struggling to hit 0c this morning, Island Roads have re-deployed their fleet of gritting lorries across the Isle of Wight.
Gritting of primary routes commenced at 18:00 yesterday evening (Sunday) and now the gritters are being re-deployed to treat any wet spots.
Any precipitation falling today is likely to fall as snow due to the low temperatures, which could make the roads icy even during the middle of the day. At best, the Island can expect to see 2c but it will feel much colder, maybe as cold as -8c.
Gritters will be monitoring their routes
Forecasters at IW Met Service explain what to expect today. The service has also extended its cold weather alert here.
