Islander Oliver West is to skydive above Wiltshire this Friday (23rd August) to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK in memory of his grandfather, Mark Rayment. Close to £900 has already been donated to his JustGiving page. As Howden Insurance (Oliver’s employer) have offered to double the sum raised, it is hoped a donation of £2,000 or more can be given to the cancer charity. Olly has said:
“In May this year, my branch manager and I (Richard Johnson of Howden Insurance Newport) decided we would to do a fundraising skydive for my grandad, who was a popular client here with us, had many policies, as he had prostate cancer, including cancer of the heart and lungs. “We knew his time was borrowed and limited, so we organised this for August in the hope that he would still be here to see it. Unfortunately, on 25th June, he passed away, after a quick battle in the deterioration of his health. “So far, we have raised close to £900 and anything that is raised will be doubled by Howden Insurance. This is a charity very close to my heart as my uncle has also battled with this horrible disease.
“Things are tough at the moment, but any donations small or large are very much appreciated.”
Anyone wishing to donate may do so on the JustGiving page.
